The Brinell hardness is indicated in the most commonly used test standards (ASTM E10-14 and ISO 6506–1:2005) as HBW.
H stands for the hardness, B for Brinell and W for the material of the intruder: tungsten carbide.
Steel S235 has a hardness of approximately 100 HBW.
Normal aluminum has a hardness of 15 to 20 HBW, the outside of hard anodized aluminum has a hardness of 200 HBW or higher.
In addition, hard anodized aluminum is resistant to acids and salts and UV radiation.
