LED growth panels potato cultivation

To one of the largest potato growers in the world, Vocare Ledlight has supplied several hundred LED growth panels.

🌱 LED growth panels are used in potato cultivation to support or optimize plant growth in so-called climate chambers.

LED growth panels are designed to produce light in wavelengths that are most effective for photosynthesis. For potato plants, blue (450-495 nm) and red light (620-750 nm) are particularly important:

• Blue light stimulates leaf growth and compact plants.
• Red light promotes flowering and tuber formation (the development of potatoes).

Advantages in potato growing:

Energy efficient: LEDs use less power than traditional HPS lamps
Little heat: LEDs emit little heat, so less risk of burning or drying out plants.
Adjustable light spectrum: Light can be tuned to growth stage (vegetative vs. tuber formation).
Faster growth/higher yield: In controlled systems, this can lead to faster growing cycles.
